treatment with PLA,. At this stage it is impossible to say whether the presence of such large amounts of lysophospholipids has a role in isoenzyme inactivation. Nevertheless it can be hypothesized that each P450 isoenzyme responds differently to changes in membrane NEFA content and composition. This situation might facilitate the selective modulation of P450 isoenzyme activity depending on the overall requirements of the cell, tissue or body. For example, in the present study, the presence of NEFAs in the environment of the 3A family of isoenzymes seems to have a suppressing effect on the 6/%hydroxylation of testosterone. Consequently, the clearance of NEFAs from the membrane (perhaps in response to hormonal signals), would lead to enhanced testosterone hydroxylation, whereas the sequestration of excess dietary NEFAs in the membrane could lead to a further suppression of isoenzyme activity.

P-37: (+)-Pulegone Reduced Cyp19 GeneExpression and Reduced Leydig CellsSteroidogenic Activity

Background: Pulegone (PGN) is a clear colorless oily liquid, which is widely used in different areas for flavoring foods, drinks, and dental products. There are several reports indicating that the metabolites of the PGN affect cytochrome-P450 family expression and activities. The cytochromes-P450 (cyp19) are involved in Leydig Cells aromatization. Therefore, present study was performed in order...

Gene transcriptomic profile in arabidopsis thaliana mediated by radiation-induced bystander effects

Background: The in vivo radiation-induced bystander effects (RIBE) at the developmental, genetic, and epigenetic levels have been well demonstrated using model plant Arabidopsis thaliana (A. thaliana). However, the mechanisms underlying RIBE in plants are not clear, especially lacking a comprehensive knowledge about the genes and biological pathways involved in the RIBE in plants. Materials and...

Cytochrome P450 drives a HIF-regulated behavioral response to reoxygenation by C. elegans.

Oxygen deprivation followed by reoxygenation causes pathological responses in many disorders, including ischemic stroke, heart attacks, and reperfusion injury. Key aspects of ischemia-reperfusion can be modeled by a Caenorhabditis elegans behavior, the O2-ON response, which is suppressed by hypoxic preconditioning or inactivation of the O2-sensing HIF (hypoxia-inducible factor) hydroxylase EGL-...

Unsaturated fatty acid regulation of cytochrome P450 expression via a CAR-dependent pathway

The liver is responsible for key metabolic functions, including control of normal homoeostasis in response to diet and xenobiotic metabolism/detoxification. We have shown previously that inactivation of the hepatic cytochrome P450 system through conditional deletion of POR (P450 oxidoreductase) induces hepatic steatosis, liver growth and P450 expression. We have exploited a new conditional mode...

LXR deficiency and cholesterol feeding affect the expression and phenobarbital-mediated induction of cytochromes P450 in mouse liver.

Metabolic transformation by the superfamily of cytochromes P450 (CYPs) plays an important role in the detoxification of xenobiotics such as drugs, environmental pollutants, and food additives. Endogenous substrates of CYPs include fatty acids, sterols, steroids, and bile acids. Induction of CYPs via transcriptional activation by substrates and other xenobiotics is an important adaptive mechanis...
